Procter & Gamble has issued a voluntary recall of aerosol dry conditioner spray products and aerosol dry shampoo spray products from its Pantene, Aussie, Herbal Essences and Waterl<ss brands produced in the US after the presence of benzene was discovered in some products.

Following reports that indicated traces of benzene in some aerosol spray products, P&G reviewed its total portfolio and detected unexpected levels of benzene coming from the propellant that sprays the product out of the can.

The affected products were distributed nationwide in the US through retail outlets, which have been alerted to remove the recalled products from their shelves. Consumers will also be able to seek a refund for purchased products impacted by the recall.

The US FMCG manufacturer said that it was conducting the recall ‘out of an abundance of caution’ and that nothing was more important to it than the safety of the consumers who use its products and the quality of the products it ships.
